SBRI Healthcare has awarded £1.25 million to help fund the development of thirteen separate innovations relating to musculoskeletal disorder and dentistry, oral health and oral cancers.

The government has announced a newly formed organisation NHSX to oversee digital, data and technology. The new unit will effectively take a position above NHS Digital, who is believed will continue with its current remit.

Four NHS boards in the North of Scotland have now gone live with a new health and care portal from Orion. NHS Grampian, NHS Highland, NHS Orkney, and NHS Shetland staff now have a single view of patient information held in different IT systems across the boards.

January has been dominated by the published NHS Long Term Plan. Health and care leaders came together to develop a Long Term Plan to make the NHS fit for the future, and to get the most value for patients out of every pound of  taxpayers’ investment. Here we review the Plan and the tech milestones it set.  

We also asked the Tech Industry for their view and reaction to the publication of the NHS Long Term Plan. In a two part series we covered the reaction from the industry. The theme was clear, interopabeility is key, and it always has been. Technology to support our NHS is not possible solely from a few suppliers, we need innovation and funding to truly deliver a technology enabled health system.
